April Event - A Day in the Life of…
A Day in the Life of…
Not every day is a huge adventure. In fact, some days are just like all the others. Granted, life in The Library is not exactly ‘normal’, but there are days just like any other. Which means the small tasks still needs to be done. Pick a job, carry out your life… What is your everyday life like in The Central Library?1. You have started a job or trade and help out in any way you can. Maybe you are teaching defense. Maybe you are simply learning it. You will need it! After all, just because there is nothing big happening doesn’t mean there might not be something like a bugbear waiting around the corner you’ll need to kill.
2. The books are scattering like roaches when you turn the light on! It’s horrible! They seem to find their current nesting spots on their shelves unsuitable! It needs to be cleaned up and the books need to be put back where they belong. Mind you… they are skittish and they will run from you!
3. People need to eat around here… are you a good cook? Some really aren’t… so why not help out with dinner? Nothing like planning for a… sort of… family meal. If you can’t cook, go to the market and find ingredients. Doing a little shopping is a nice way to pass the day.
4. Maybe you are the dodging work type. Maybe you really didn’t want to clean shelves or work. Well! There are always the baths or having tea in one of the atriums. (You could always play some pranks on the other patrons as well. It’s all in fun and getting to know each other, of course.)
5. Is work and cooking too mild for you? Training is simply not needed, you say? Then go hunting for monsters in the darker places of the Library. Just be careful not to wander too far… it’s easy to get lost in the darkness.
6. With the arrival of great pets comes great responsibility! And the need for pet-sitters who are willing to make sure they’re all happy and healthy. Walk the dogs! Play with the cats! Watch out for the ducks! And keep them out of trouble if you can.
7. Wild card! Feel free to come up with something else to fill up your day and have fun (or not!).
((Note: This post counts as a test drive and can be used with the simplified application if the tag requirement is met.))

6... because animals just seem to like him.. XD
Dogs and cats and the like couldn't be as oppressive as the horses that seemed to really like his hair for a snack, now could they? Of course not...
That's why he was waiting in the entry hall, looking sorely out of place with his elaborate clothes. But then, he really didn't have extra clothes at the moment. And if he listened to Kogitsune said about his last fashion faux pas, it was best he not go shopping for new clothes.
So he would just have to manage with what he had. Hopefully none of the animals had a penchant for chewing on clothes. That could be troublesome, indeed.

He marched toward Mikazuki with a two of cats trailing behind him. One was an angry looking grey Persian, and the other a ball of black fluff that resembled what the Cat might have looked like if he had gone through such a stage.
Sitting down near Mikazuki, the Cat curled his tail around his paws. "Since you offered to pet sit, I thought I would let two of our residence see if they would like to spend time with you." Pausing, he inclined his head toward the grey cat. "This is Church. He has misplaced his human and needs company even if he says he does not." The Cat flicked his tail toward the black kitten. "She has not decided on a name yet but would like someone to play with."

They have something in common. ^_^
Back home he would watch birds from a distance. Through his bedroom window or in the bushes around his mothers garden. Here at the Library he didn't have to search for birds, the birds found him.
Simone enjoyed the birds, too. Jace's puppy was very sweet and energetic and he was more than happy to volunteer to take her out to play and explore when Jace couldn't give her all his attention. So they were on an adventure together to help take care of the pets that didn't have a permanent home yet.
They do! And everyone needs a dorky sword in their life!
2. Because Nita jumps to work when she's feels it's needed.
So, Nita thought, carefully making her way down some of the more dusty aisles. I became a wizard because a book in a library caught me. Now I'm out catching books. Talk about coming full-circle.
But Nita was new to all this. Maybe she could take some pointers?

"The books will not bite, but they are quick. And they must not be damaged in any way."
Is this alright? ^^;
I't fine ^^

1. She's an archer after all

Moving closer to the makeshift 'range', he glances around to see if he can catch a glimpse of one of their patrons he's not yet met. "Ms. Queen?" He noticed that she seemed nervous, and he offers a slight nod of the head. "It has been many years since I held a bow. Perhaps you can refresh my memory?" Pausing he added softer. "Forgive me, we have not met yet... I am the Head Librarian." Bowing just a little, his accented tone followed cordially. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you."

Moving to one of the targets, he inspected it before deciding that it would be safe. He didn't think Thea would be careless but years of having an extremely curious little brother who didn't always remember what areas weren't playgrounds made him cautious. "Did you set up the targets or did the Library make a room for the archers?"

(no subject)
Not an archer, but that doesn't mean he won't come shoot at some targets!
Heading towards Thea anyways, vigilante gear on once more and he'd kind of missed it. Mask down, as he called out a greeting. "Not an archer, hopefully still welcome?"

2: Captain William Turner || Post-AWE but Pre-OST
His face betrayed his calm stance, worry clear in the brown eyes glancing about. It has not been ten years, his mind would helpfully supply. Only two at most. Why was he on land? Or...at least something that resembled land and..."Oh.." he glanced down, carefully picking up the book he'd just trod on.
Really. There was no way he could blame this little venture on one Captain Jack Sparrow.

The Librarian might have called on one of the patrons for help, but a shock of feeling made him wince. Turning his head, he caught sight of the new patron as he looked down upon the book he'd stepped on. Moving closer, he knelt to the floor, the black robes pooling on the floor as he holds his hands out to the book.
After wriggling out from under the other man's foot, it scurried into his waiting hands where he caressed the cover in a soothing fashion. "I know they are being a pain... but please try not to step on them if you can." He cradles the book to his chest as he rises, his eyes lifting to the new person. "Have you only lately arrived here?" Perhaps the long stint of seclusion to heal has thrown him... but he is sure this patron is new.

Kristen Kringle l Gotham
(3)
Kristen found solace in making things tidy and everything in its proper place. So the skirted redhead was quite happily working on putting a pile of cookbooks away while sneaking glances to gain some ideas on something to fix later on.
(7)
A pale redhead found herself tangled in what looked to be a pile of gun manuals. "Well things can't get much stranger." as she untangled herself and quickly realized not only was she banged up but her glasses were cracked. But she kept working to get the manuals put away and to keep anyone else from being hurt.

3. (cooking and a market trip!)
Now, she had a list of things that she had to get from the local market in order to put together for a few dinners, and easily frozen meals that people could grab and reheat. If she was going to cook for herself, why not make enough for everyone? She grabbed a few bags and headed towards the market, she was going to need a lot of things.
(LATER, WHEE)
Sara had returned from her trip to the market, looking at a recipe on the tablet she'd managed to bring with her, chopping some of the vegetables she'd purchased at the market. She hadn't reduced the numbers, so she would have plenty of leftovers. She just didn't realize how much cooking this was going to involve.
disinfected you say? Have a pirate fresh from the sea 8D
Fortunately for him there was someone already preparing a meal, so it was a small matter to follow the scents and sounds to their source. His eyes widened at the woman, not quite sure what to make of her. Then his eyes gazed around the kitchen and he simply stared.
Not what he had expected.

Chasing After Books
XD Here.. have a sword that will likely trip helping you.
Kneeling to the floor, he smiled at both the dog and the book. "It seems, you are afraid? Come here." The soft lyrical tone to his voice caused the book to slow then edge carefully into his waiting hands. Looking up at the collie, he tilted his head with a grin. "I will help it back home, your assistance is appreciated."
Hugging the book to his chest, he looked up at the other man and beamed. "Mm... I do not believe we have met..."

Re: Chasing After Books
"Need some help, there?" she said.
She could handle the puppy or the book, if he wanted. She may have been new to the Library, but she wasn't new to rambunctious animals - and, in a similar vein, books that were more than they seemed.

Cooking
Hello stranger. ;)
And right now, she was feeling a little hungry...
"Ah, hello?" she said politely, having found his location by following that delightful smell.
"What's your name? I'm Nita."

Bob on a shelf
Re: Bob on a shelf
Considering her previous adventures, encountering something like the Transcendent Pig here was totally plausible in her book.
/Dai Stiho,/ Nita greeted, in the Speech. It seemed a bit excessive, but being polite in the language all things spoke couldn't go wrong, right?

Books should not move like that. Alec wasn't even sure how they could move like that. They didn't have legs, at least he assumed that they didn't have legs. Could they have grown legs recently? And books should not move that quickly. Grumbling to himself, he chased after one of the books, leaping on top of tables and onto shelves to try to keep pace with it. Maybe if he was able to back it into a corner, he'd be able to catch it and put it back where it was supposed to be.
6.
It probably looked strange to have a Shadowhunter in full gear walking two cats on leashes. Especially when his quiver and bow were on his back and a few other weapons that could be seen... and a few that couldn't unless someone was gifted with the Sight. One cat was a munchkin tabby, tugging at the end of his leash and merping excitedly. The other was a grumpy looking grey Persian that seemed to watch the world with disdain. Occasionally Alec reached down to pet one of the cats, smiling wryly as he took them for a walk through the safer areas of the Library.
7.
A duck. There was a duck paddling along in the baths. Alec stared at it for a few minutes, not really sure what to think of this latest addition to the Library. The TurDuckEns had been strange but not dangerous. The duck seemed to be harmless. Or would be unless Jace saw it. Then his parabatai would swear that it was a Demon Duck and it had to be destroyed. Knowing that its feathered life was in danger, Alec knelt at the edge of the bath, trying to coax the creature out of the water so he could get it out of the Library before anyone could see it.
7! ^^
"Any idea how long we've had a fowl problem?" Nita asked, hoping she wouldn't startle the man or the duck.

[Books moving around like bugs. Okay. It was strange but he'd dealt with stranger things here before.
Dropping a foot down on top of one of the scuttling books, Owen frowned and leaned down to pick it up. It definitely wasn't pleased with being touched but now that he had it the thing wasn't going to be getting away and a quick glance at the spine told him where it belonged. The book was quickly tucked back into place before he went after another, catching it with his foot again and managing to snag another with his hand.
This was no worse than having to wrangle compsognathus when they got lose. At least the books didn't have teeth and a pack mentality.
He hoped.]
[5]
[Despite not having any ammo for it, Owen had slung his rifle over his shoulder all the same. Having it gave him that sense of safety that he'd become accustomed to back at the park and it just helped ease any worries he might have.
Kronos had said that the darkness was creeping into the library more and more and he wasn't pleased to hear that. That meant there were probably a lot more things wandering around than there should be. And given that he was use to this and things like, oh you know, dinosaurs, he had decided to do some scouting in the darker, abandoned areas of the library.
Crouching at the end of one of the aisles, Owen peered around the corner as he attempted to find the source of the noise he'd been following for the better part of an hour now. It was large, whatever it was, and had been shuffling through the books and had even knocked down several of the shelving units but try as he might Owen had yet to catch sight of it.
Whatever it was needed to be stopped, though, before it got to the other parts of the library.]
[Wildcard]
[Cooking really wasn't his thing. Neither was pet sitting. Sure he loved animals but there was only so much he could take in terms of walking dogs and cleaning up after cats and ducks.
Which is why he was in the non-fiction section, reorganizing and cleaning up things there. It had been his favorite section of the library the first time he'd visited and that hadn't changed now. His rifle was propped up against one of the shelves as he sorted through the books, putting them back where they were supposed to be and making sure everything was facing the same way. Sure it was tedious and really it wasn't doing anything to help anyone but it helped him clear his head. It gave him something to focus on that kept his hands and mind busy.
That, and he couldn't be blamed if he stopped every now and then to flip through one of the books, reading through different sections before the books were placed back on the shelf. For as much of a hands on, outdoors-y type as he was, Owen did like reading.]

Purring softly as he watches Owen, the Cat saunters over to him before going to the rifle. Sitting up on his hind legs, he sniffs at it thoughtfully.]
Are you attached to this sort of weapon?
[It's one of the few firearms that had entered the Library and the Cat has been curious to why others hadn't brought similar weapons. Perhaps the more archaic ones were more useful.
Setting his paws back on the floor, he looks around to see if anyone is nearby before starting to twine between Owen's legs like the feline he resembles.]
I know what you did for our friend.
[There was little reason to elaborate on who that might be and the Cat rarely says the Head Librarian's name in the main areas of the Library.]

5, if that's alright by you? ^^
Of course!
Lack of light on Nita's part is due to IC unsurity if wizardry can be used in the Library. ^^;

Amaterasu (Okami) Open-to-all!
Ammy has taken--with permission--custodianship of some of the Mythology sections. For her, this is just another day in what she'd been doing in Nippon; clean up, keep residents safe, expel evil... So she can be found in various parts of the mythology stacks, helping clean up dark-gunk, and trying to make sure the books are safe. Hands would be useful at times, to carry things more easily.
3--Market Shopping
Ammy lacks hands to cook, so she's volunteered for shopping duty and ingredient gathering. Just give her the lists, and she'll manage. Everyone back home just she was on shopping errands, why would this be any different?
4--Naptime! Tea! Ammy likes tea, and quiet, and she works hard so she's allowed a break right? Feel free to find the Goddess just basking in the nature of the Atrium. Come nap with her, or run around the area. Someone introduce her to these baths, because they don't look like what she's used to.
5--Monster-patrol A big part of helping save Nippon involved fighting evil spirits. This is not a new thing for Ammy, as she's nosing around the darker areas to start learning more about her foes. Don't worry, she's capable of defending herself, but company is always welcome.
-6-Pet sitting Despite being a giant wolf, Ammy is actually a mother-goddess. Animals can hopefully sense this, and she's no threat to them. Watching over baby ducks, playing games with the other dogs and cats, making sure they get fed and stay in one area as much as possible.
1! :)
/Dai Stiho, there,/ Nita said in the Speech.
/Can I be of assistance?/
There seemed to be no harm in asking - she'd had similar conversations with her non-human Cousins before, after all.
