A Day in the Life of…

Not every day is a huge adventure. In fact, some days are just like all the others. Granted, life in The Library is not exactly ‘normal’, but there are days just like any other. Which means the small tasks still needs to be done. Pick a job, carry out your life… What is your everyday life like in The Central Library?

1. You have started a job or trade and help out in any way you can. Maybe you are teaching defense. Maybe you are simply learning it. You will need it! After all, just because there is nothing big happening doesn’t mean there might not be something like a bugbear waiting around the corner you’ll need to kill.

2. The books are scattering like roaches when you turn the light on! It’s horrible! They seem to find their current nesting spots on their shelves unsuitable! It needs to be cleaned up and the books need to be put back where they belong. Mind you… they are skittish and they will run from you!

3. People need to eat around here… are you a good cook? Some really aren’t… so why not help out with dinner? Nothing like planning for a… sort of… family meal. If you can’t cook, go to the market and find ingredients. Doing a little shopping is a nice way to pass the day.

4. Maybe you are the dodging work type. Maybe you really didn’t want to clean shelves or work. Well! There are always the baths or having tea in one of the atriums. (You could always play some pranks on the other patrons as well. It’s all in fun and getting to know each other, of course.)

5. Is work and cooking too mild for you? Training is simply not needed, you say? Then go hunting for monsters in the darker places of the Library. Just be careful not to wander too far… it’s easy to get lost in the darkness.

6. With the arrival of great pets comes great responsibility! And the need for pet-sitters who are willing to make sure they’re all happy and healthy. Walk the dogs! Play with the cats! Watch out for the ducks! And keep them out of trouble if you can.

7. Wild card! Feel free to come up with something else to fill up your day and have fun (or not!).

1. She's an archer after all

Thea had picked up her bow and arrows, happy to be able to actually train for the first time in weeks. As she set up a few targets she remembered their was others who shoot so she posted a note outside the room,"Calling all archers! Come train or just show off your gear." adding a little smiliey to show she was joking around. Feel free to notice she's still a little shaky, its been sometime thanks to being in recovery from her wounds (which she still it, at least on a mental and emotional level).

It's been a while since he's wandered the halls and rows of shelves of the Library. The long resting period had been needed in order to recover, but it has also left him behind on greeting those that joined the other patrons. It seemed that during his time away, people had managed to make a home there... of this he was glad.

Moving closer to the makeshift 'range', he glances around to see if he can catch a glimpse of one of their patrons he's not yet met. "Ms. Queen?" He noticed that she seemed nervous, and he offers a slight nod of the head. "It has been many years since I held a bow. Perhaps you can refresh my memory?" Pausing he added softer. "Forgive me, we have not met yet... I am the Head Librarian." Bowing just a little, his accented tone followed cordially. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you."

"As the saying goes the skill never fades, it just needs practice which is something I am in need of." came the voice of a young woman in jeans and a red hoodie. The arrow went flying straight and true since she had only gotten off the shot as she spoke,"And its nice to finally meet you and I would be Ms.Queen but to most I'm just Thea."

"Ah yes... it's that saying about bicycles, is it not?" He's familiar with many of these concepts and idioms for each culture. But just like anything else, you fall out of practice if you don't use them. Yet, they are not forgotten.

"Well then, Thea... belated as I may be, welcome to The Central Library. Have you enjoyed your stay so far?"

Alec saw the note and shook his head. He really wasn't one to show off, either his skills or his gear, but he was curious. As far as he knew, there were only two archers in the Library now. It couldn't hurt to let someone else look at his bow and arrows as long as there were no runes on them. He smiled when he realized who the other archer was. "Well, there's two of us at least."

Moving to one of the targets, he inspected it before deciding that it would be safe. He didn't think Thea would be careless but years of having an extremely curious little brother who didn't always remember what areas weren't playgrounds made him cautious. "Did you set up the targets or did the Library make a room for the archers?"

"For now its makeshift since if I did the math right those only a handful of archers." Thea called to Alec. "Figured if there's either interest or need a full time space can be hunted down."

"There are but I know someone who wants me to teach him." Jace should practice too even if he'll complain the entire time. "I'd rather use a permanent space that everyone knows is devoted to being a range." Realizing how that might sound, he gave Thea an apologetic smile. "Sorry. I had a little brother who was always getting into things. Telling him that a certain area was where we always practiced was one of the only ways to make sure he was careful. It became a habit."

Not an archer, but that doesn't mean he won't come shoot at some targets!

Casey was so NOT an archer; but that didn't mean he felt like he'd be any less welcome. In his vigilante life, not only did he enjoy getting up close and scrapping, but hey--his aim was pretty darn good too. With the unconventional weapon of hockey-pucks, no less. Sometimes hockey-pucks that exploded even, thanks to an attached fire-cracker.

Heading towards Thea anyways, vigilante gear on once more and he'd kind of missed it. Mask down, as he called out a greeting. "Not an archer, hopefully still welcome?"

Re: Not an archer, but that doesn't mean he won't come shoot at some targets!

"Still welcome!" Thea called as an arrow flew right into its target. "So braving the dark side of arrows over hockey pucks?" going for playful since their worlds were different as it was.

Playful is good, and Casey's smirking behind his mask. Especially as he pulls out a hockey-puck and drops it. Not hard at all to slap-shot it right at the target next to Thea's arrow. "Not that at all, just prefer to be non-lethal." Leo used arrows, as did the other guys. Besides, Casey'd been around the Library enough to get used to archers, including Thea.

Thea was great to patrol with, after all.
