April Event - A Day in the Life of…

A Day in the Life of…

Not every day is a huge adventure. In fact, some days are just like all the others. Granted, life in The Library is not exactly ‘normal’, but there are days just like any other. Which means the small tasks still needs to be done. Pick a job, carry out your life… What is your everyday life like in The Central Library?

1. You have started a job or trade and help out in any way you can. Maybe you are teaching defense. Maybe you are simply learning it. You will need it! After all, just because there is nothing big happening doesn’t mean there might not be something like a bugbear waiting around the corner you’ll need to kill.

2. The books are scattering like roaches when you turn the light on! It’s horrible! They seem to find their current nesting spots on their shelves unsuitable! It needs to be cleaned up and the books need to be put back where they belong. Mind you… they are skittish and they will run from you!

3. People need to eat around here… are you a good cook? Some really aren’t… so why not help out with dinner? Nothing like planning for a… sort of… family meal. If you can’t cook, go to the market and find ingredients. Doing a little shopping is a nice way to pass the day.

4. Maybe you are the dodging work type. Maybe you really didn’t want to clean shelves or work. Well! There are always the baths or having tea in one of the atriums. (You could always play some pranks on the other patrons as well. It’s all in fun and getting to know each other, of course.)

5. Is work and cooking too mild for you? Training is simply not needed, you say? Then go hunting for monsters in the darker places of the Library. Just be careful not to wander too far… it’s easy to get lost in the darkness.

6. With the arrival of great pets comes great responsibility! And the need for pet-sitters who are willing to make sure they’re all happy and healthy. Walk the dogs! Play with the cats! Watch out for the ducks! And keep them out of trouble if you can.

7. Wild card! Feel free to come up with something else to fill up your day and have fun (or not!).

Since the Cat had a soft spot for creatures with four feet instead of two, he kept an eye on the pets that had been brought into the Library. They had helped ease some of the darkness. Innocence and happiness was more powerful than most beings expected. It also helped ease some of the loneliness he knew that the patrons and their animals felt so it had been a good deed even if the Cat would deny it if anyone made such a suggestion.

He marched toward Mikazuki with a two of cats trailing behind him. One was an angry looking grey Persian, and the other a ball of black fluff that resembled what the Cat might have looked like if he had gone through such a stage.

Sitting down near Mikazuki, the Cat curled his tail around his paws. "Since you offered to pet sit, I thought I would let two of our residence see if they would like to spend time with you." Pausing, he inclined his head toward the grey cat. "This is Church. He has misplaced his human and needs company even if he says he does not." The Cat flicked his tail toward the black kitten. "She has not decided on a name yet but would like someone to play with."

Mikazuki instantly noticed the silent steps of small feet heading his way. Cats. He had not had the pleasure of playing or meeting a cat before. Most of the animals in his life so far had been foxes. Just like his younger brother and the avatar of the Citadel. But cats seemed very similar.

However, he knew this one cat was a Librarian and for that and other reasons, he bowed politely in greeting. "I am pleased to finally meet you, Cat-dono. You are a Librarian, yes? Please allow me to help with anything that you need." His eyes flicked to the older cat with the not so pleased with life face then to the little furball beside it. Both made him laugh in happiness as he lowered down to sit on his haunches. Soon he shifted into seiza and rested his hands on his knees.

"It is a pleasure to meet you three. I am Mikazuki, but you can call me Jiji. I am quite old, please take care of me."
