April Event - A Day in the Life of…

A Day in the Life of…

Not every day is a huge adventure. In fact, some days are just like all the others. Granted, life in The Library is not exactly ‘normal’, but there are days just like any other. Which means the small tasks still needs to be done. Pick a job, carry out your life… What is your everyday life like in The Central Library?

1. You have started a job or trade and help out in any way you can. Maybe you are teaching defense. Maybe you are simply learning it. You will need it! After all, just because there is nothing big happening doesn’t mean there might not be something like a bugbear waiting around the corner you’ll need to kill.

2. The books are scattering like roaches when you turn the light on! It’s horrible! They seem to find their current nesting spots on their shelves unsuitable! It needs to be cleaned up and the books need to be put back where they belong. Mind you… they are skittish and they will run from you!

3. People need to eat around here… are you a good cook? Some really aren’t… so why not help out with dinner? Nothing like planning for a… sort of… family meal. If you can’t cook, go to the market and find ingredients. Doing a little shopping is a nice way to pass the day.

4. Maybe you are the dodging work type. Maybe you really didn’t want to clean shelves or work. Well! There are always the baths or having tea in one of the atriums. (You could always play some pranks on the other patrons as well. It’s all in fun and getting to know each other, of course.)

5. Is work and cooking too mild for you? Training is simply not needed, you say? Then go hunting for monsters in the darker places of the Library. Just be careful not to wander too far… it’s easy to get lost in the darkness.

6. With the arrival of great pets comes great responsibility! And the need for pet-sitters who are willing to make sure they’re all happy and healthy. Walk the dogs! Play with the cats! Watch out for the ducks! And keep them out of trouble if you can.

7. Wild card! Feel free to come up with something else to fill up your day and have fun (or not!).

Exploring the dark places

There was soft humming noise as the Doctor moved forward his sonic screwdriver held out in front of him. He couldn't resist exploring the darker areas of the Library. He knew he shouldn't be doing it alone, but he wasn't someone who gave into fear very much and it was fun poking around where he shouldn't. Those footsteps behind him were just someone who'd followed him...right?

Then came the voice of a young woman currently getting untangled from a pile of gun manuals,"On your left! Simply trying to get untangled." Kristen called, she did not want anyone else to end up hurt after all. But given Kristen's skirt and twin set she does look like something from the mid 50s visually speaking.

The Doctor stopped and looked to his left. "Hello," he said reaching into his pocket and pulling note card from his pocket. "I'm the Doctor I may sound rude but I'm actually just Scottish." He tucks the card back in his pocket with another fumble then he swung the sonic around to find his new friend.

"Kristen Kringle." came the voice of a young woman coming out of a pile of manuals. "Had been in the squad room of the Gotham City Police Department before somehow finding myself here." she explained.

The Doctor nodded. "Welcome to the Library," he said, "normally they drop people by the welcome desk with the talking skull on it but they must of missed the mark with you. I'd lead you back but I'm a bit lost myself at the moment."

"Want some help?" Kristen figured no harm in making the offer. "And thank you Doctor, its strange but an interesting strange compared to where I was. Let's just say there was a crisis going on." she mused. But she was off the floor and beyond her damaged glasses and minor bruises she was unhurt.

"Wouldn't mind some help," the Doctor mutters, "seem to be missing my carer anyway." He turns to her. "So where do we start new carer?"
