April Event - A Day in the Life of…

A Day in the Life of…

Not every day is a huge adventure. In fact, some days are just like all the others. Granted, life in The Library is not exactly ‘normal’, but there are days just like any other. Which means the small tasks still needs to be done. Pick a job, carry out your life… What is your everyday life like in The Central Library?

1. You have started a job or trade and help out in any way you can. Maybe you are teaching defense. Maybe you are simply learning it. You will need it! After all, just because there is nothing big happening doesn’t mean there might not be something like a bugbear waiting around the corner you’ll need to kill.

2. The books are scattering like roaches when you turn the light on! It’s horrible! They seem to find their current nesting spots on their shelves unsuitable! It needs to be cleaned up and the books need to be put back where they belong. Mind you… they are skittish and they will run from you!

3. People need to eat around here… are you a good cook? Some really aren’t… so why not help out with dinner? Nothing like planning for a… sort of… family meal. If you can’t cook, go to the market and find ingredients. Doing a little shopping is a nice way to pass the day.

4. Maybe you are the dodging work type. Maybe you really didn’t want to clean shelves or work. Well! There are always the baths or having tea in one of the atriums. (You could always play some pranks on the other patrons as well. It’s all in fun and getting to know each other, of course.)

5. Is work and cooking too mild for you? Training is simply not needed, you say? Then go hunting for monsters in the darker places of the Library. Just be careful not to wander too far… it’s easy to get lost in the darkness.

6. With the arrival of great pets comes great responsibility! And the need for pet-sitters who are willing to make sure they’re all happy and healthy. Walk the dogs! Play with the cats! Watch out for the ducks! And keep them out of trouble if you can.

7. Wild card! Feel free to come up with something else to fill up your day and have fun (or not!).

"Ah, alive is a precarious term, but accurate enough." He smoothed some of the black off of the spine carefully, his brow furrowing as the darkness on his skin seemed to seep in and disappear. "It's more, what is inside that lives and desires to keep living."

Every living thing tried to survive. It was in their instincts and base nature. "Here, you cannot assume that books are merely books. Forgive me, the concept likely seems strange..." Offering a warmer expression, he glanced at the books that skittered under shelves pretending to be out of sight. "You are here, because you were called. This is not a ship... but simply a space between time. Do not worry, it is all right for you to step foot here." Now that they have spoken, he can feel and see the other's story, and he knows that the burden is heavy.

"Please relax if you can. This is a place where the rules that you know do not apply. But it is a very important place that is in need of help from any willing to help."

[[Welcome! I hope you find it enjoyable here! Feel free to tag around in this meme.]]

He looked at the books again, watching them move about....reacting to the presence of the strange man. There was an odd tug somewhere but no danger. Listening carefully he gazed up at the stranger, watching the darkness seep in and vanish. There were rules here, Will could tell...old rules. One's that, perhaps, ran deeper then the ones he himself was bound to.

"The concept of things...being more than they seem." He gave a soft laugh, his eyes glancing again to the books. "That, truly is not as strange as one would think." Yet this was not a ship. Not familiar and not something he could ask over. The cursed Captain glanced up as the stranger continued, brows furrowing as his body tensed.

"The rules that I know? And you said that I was called here." The worry had leaped back into his eyes, "What sort of help does one need...from the Captain of the Dutchman?"
