April Event - A Day in the Life of…

A Day in the Life of…

Not every day is a huge adventure. In fact, some days are just like all the others. Granted, life in The Library is not exactly ‘normal’, but there are days just like any other. Which means the small tasks still needs to be done. Pick a job, carry out your life… What is your everyday life like in The Central Library?

1. You have started a job or trade and help out in any way you can. Maybe you are teaching defense. Maybe you are simply learning it. You will need it! After all, just because there is nothing big happening doesn’t mean there might not be something like a bugbear waiting around the corner you’ll need to kill.

2. The books are scattering like roaches when you turn the light on! It’s horrible! They seem to find their current nesting spots on their shelves unsuitable! It needs to be cleaned up and the books need to be put back where they belong. Mind you… they are skittish and they will run from you!

3. People need to eat around here… are you a good cook? Some really aren’t… so why not help out with dinner? Nothing like planning for a… sort of… family meal. If you can’t cook, go to the market and find ingredients. Doing a little shopping is a nice way to pass the day.

4. Maybe you are the dodging work type. Maybe you really didn’t want to clean shelves or work. Well! There are always the baths or having tea in one of the atriums. (You could always play some pranks on the other patrons as well. It’s all in fun and getting to know each other, of course.)

5. Is work and cooking too mild for you? Training is simply not needed, you say? Then go hunting for monsters in the darker places of the Library. Just be careful not to wander too far… it’s easy to get lost in the darkness.

6. With the arrival of great pets comes great responsibility! And the need for pet-sitters who are willing to make sure they’re all happy and healthy. Walk the dogs! Play with the cats! Watch out for the ducks! And keep them out of trouble if you can.

7. Wild card! Feel free to come up with something else to fill up your day and have fun (or not!).

Kristen found solace in making things tidy and everything in its proper place. So the skirted redhead was quite happily working on putting a pile of cookbooks away while sneaking glances to gain some ideas on something to fix later on.

(7)

A pale redhead found herself tangled in what looked to be a pile of gun manuals. "Well things can't get much stranger." as she untangled herself and quickly realized not only was she banged up but her glasses were cracked. But she kept working to get the manuals put away and to keep anyone else from being hurt.

The Cat wasn't always able to keep up with what was going on in the Library. He was only one being and the space was vast. But he did notice that something had gone wrong. Leaping lightly to a nearby shelf, the Cat studied one of their newest patrons with concern. She seemed relatively unharmed except for her glasses. Normally he let the patrons fend for themselves if injuries were minor but a being's vision being altered because of the Library was not something he would. "My apologizes, Ms. Kringle. I can assist you with your glasses, if you like."

A talking cat? Well Kristen figured things could not get any stranger plus this one was rather proper which she respected. "That would be lovely, was not expecting to land here when last I remember I was in the GCPD squad room after being pushed out of the path of bullets." she attempted to explain what had happened. But in spite of her glasses she had gotten untangled and had gotten the manuals off the floor.

"If you set them were I can reach them, they will be repaired." It wasn't one of his normal duties but it would only take a small amount of energy. Such a minor thing wouldn't impede his duties. Tiptoeing along the shelf, he waves his tail thoughtfully. "Usually our invitations are not accepted in such trying moments. Our Head Librarian asked you to help us with our work. Those patrons that say yes are brought here. Sometimes patrons don't remember his request until later."

Kristen set the cracked glasses atop the nearby table for the moment. She could only nod, things were falling into place now. "I do remember someone speaking to me before someone slammed me out of the path of bullets." her voice trailing off.

The Cat stretched, reaching out with one paw to bat at the glasses. The motion looked careless but he made sure that his claws did not touch the lenses. His ears flattened briefly in concentration and the crack began to mend. "The being who spoke is our Head Librarian. Normally he is the one who greets our patrons that have had a traumatic entrance to the Library but he has been attending to other duties.

Welcome to the Library, Ms. Kringle."
