Test Drive Meme
You are in The Central Library… anything can happen here. In fact, the possible can become actuality while you stay here. Things are always changing. Some for the better, some for the worst… it really all depends on one thing. You.
Take a look around, visit the worlds through the book portals, and slowly bring it back to life. The more you do, the better life will get. But be wary, not everything is a fun story and not everything is harmless. Sometimes you will have your life at stake and others you will simply have to enjoy your stay.
You can use RNG to pick a scenario below… or you can pick your own! Whatever delights your fancy and makes you feel at home within the walls of The Central Library.
1. Arrival – You wake up in the main hall. The reception desk is behind you and you know you heard someone whispering “Save us” in your ear… but where are you? The hall gleams and there are many doors amongst the shelves of books. It is rather huge and a walkway circles a second floor… where are you? Well… you might want to ask.
2. Market Place – The Central Library has turned the large conference room into an open gateway to a market place. It shifts and changes along with the Library, but food is always available to those living there as long as the portal is open. Step into a Parisian market of modern day, an open market of the Dark Ages, or even a trading post in the Old West. Go shopping, take a stroll… your imagination is your only limit.
3. Go Out to Dinner – There aren’t many places to go out to eat in The Central Library, in fact, it is best to keep food to the living quarters. But when you go through portals in events, you experience whole new worlds from every era and every place. Possibly you may sit in at the Mad Tea Party or even dine in the Great Hall at Hogwarts. You pick. You decide…
4. Non-Fiction Immersion – It’s raining. Inside. You’ll find that Non-fiction has a way of ruining your day to day life in the Library. Some book in the Non-fiction section has burst open letting out a monsoon of types that only gets worse as you get to that section. Find it, close it… or we all just might float away.
5. Fiction Invasion – Sometimes things slip through. Little things or big things. After all, monsters do hide in the dark corners and in some sections of the grand structure. But this time… the problem is small, small size that is. Pixies have invaded. They are troublesome things… they love to cause problems and make life a little miserable. You need to catch them before they steal you blind… and possibly cause you too much mischief. You may need a net… but please, try not to kill them.
6. Cleaning is Necessary – You are stuck here, you might want to make it home. Being in such disrepair, it needs a little love and care. I’m sure the janitor’s closets have some tools and no harm in trying to pick up books and shelve them. Just be careful… they are rather testy about where they go.
7. A posse ad esse – Anything is possible. This is your Wild Card. Have fun with it!

His own hair seemed to be uninteresting to the pixies, although his armor seemed to be a curiosity to them. Kili knew that he should use that distraction to his advantage and trap the creature like the Librarian had ordered but Tauriel's question was more important than either the pixies or the book.
There was something wrong or something wrong had happened. It might not be obvious with her careful words and expression, but Kili knew that she was hiding something. "I remember my uncle ordering Fili and me to scout for orcs and..." After that, his memories grew hazy. He felt something, some great sorrow but the rest was dim. "Then I was here. I can remember nothing else. I know that something terrible happened but I do not know what."

"But let us not dwell on such things."
She then turned her attention to the pesky pixies, her bright eyes tracking them carefully. "They seem to be rather fond of... shiny things. My hair, your armor, is there a way we could use that to our advantage?"

She may not want to answer but he needed to know that they were safe before dealing with the pixies.
"I was thinking of improvising a net of some sort but without help, they would be too quick to catch easily." With Tauriel's assistance they might be able to catch some of them. "Something shiny to distract them while we sneak up with my cloak."

"Kili...." She turned away, unable to look at him while she told him of those awful events. "You, your uncle, your brother, you all fell on Ravenhill that day."
((OOC: Telling someone they died is super awkward...))

Squeezing her hands, he smiled up at her, wanting to reassure her and quiet the doubt that lingered with his foggy memories. "Whatever happened that day, we are here now. Fili and Thorin may be here as well. There is still hope as long as we believe that."
((ooc: Poor Tauriel.))

However, he was right. He was here, holding her hands, smiling up at her and assuring her that there was still hope. Swallowing her sadness, she forced a little smile at him in return.
"Perhaps it is best not to question how this came to pass. It is better to simply be glad that you are here."
And she had still not pulled her hands away from his. The contact was comforting to her.

Rubbing his thumbs lightly over her skin, reluctant to release her hands. He wished to pull her close and reassure her that he was whole, but he that gesture might not be accepted.
She had hesitated the first time he had spoken of his feelings. He understood her reasons. Duty and kin had pulled her from him but perhaps that had not been the only reason for her reluctance. Perhaps she had did not feel the same way and her heart did not yearn for his. "I am glad that I am here and that you were brought her as well. You wished to see the world and the Librarian said we would see many during our stay in this realm."

Her smile grew warmer, and she leaned down to place a light kiss to his cheek. It was a brief contact, almost fleeting, really, but the sweetness and affection were there.
"I still do not know what that means." Though this time when she said it, instead of conflict and hesitation in her eyes, they were sparkling merrily, glittering like the stars she loved so much.

"I do not know the proper word for it in your language." Even as he teased her, trying to keep her smile from slipping away from them, he was awed by the brightness of her eyes. Whatever had separated them before was fading. "But I have the feeling that you already know what it means."

If this posted twice, I'm sorry. DW is being weird
LJ was doing that to me the other day. Ugh.
"I did not mind your company then, and I do not mind it now." She gave him a rather teasing look before she continued. "Assuming, of course, you do not still expect me to search your trousers."
((OOC: I set "Taurizel" up in her "tower" by the way... if you're interested :-) ))
