Magical Powers and Weaponry in the Library

Magical Powers and Weaponry in the Library

Because of the importance of protecting the books and the Library itself, there are certain constraints regarding magic and weapons for characters when they are in the Library.  When a character is within the 'walls' of the Library, their powers and weaponry capabilities will be nerfed, but will return to full power when the character steps through the Portal.

Magic:

When considering nerfing powers, the mod team uses the theory that magic can be sorted into three types: attack, support, and healing.  There are more sub-genres under those, but the majority of them can be classified in this way.

Attack Magic:  All attack magic will be be nerfed within the Library's 'walls'.  For example, if you try to zap someone with lightening, there will only be a shower of sparks.  In other words, they will fizzle out.

Support and Healing Magic:  Support magic like barriers will work within the Library.  This is because they are simply helpful or protective.  Healing is considered the same.  All of these will work at full power.  There is a grey area in things like levitation and telekinesis.  You might be able to lift things that are tiny with GREAT effort.

No magic of any kind can be performed on books.  Books look small but they are entire worlds.  Using magic on them is taboo.  This includes levitation, cleaning, or any 'fixing' spells.

The mod team gives players the opportunity to explain how powers will be nerfed in their applications.  If this is not written into the app or the adjustments still put the Library at risk, the mod team will contact the player to discuss changes and/or revisions to the application.

If a certain magical ability is needed for the character and cannot/should not be nerfed, please contact the mod team and we will try to find a solution to the situation.

Weapons:

All futuristic weapons will only have defensive capabilities while in the Library.  For example, Iron Man or War Machine's armor would only work as armor, with the augmentations to power it, while in the Library.  There would be no 'attack' capabilities.  Blasters and similar weapons would have 'stun' settings, if they normally have them, but not 'kill'.

Once the character leaves the Library though the Portal, all weapons capabilities return.

Characters who use less technological weapons will be able to have them and use them within the Library but if they are used to cause harm to characters or the Library, they will be confiscated by one of the Librarians.
