Test Drive Meme
You are in The Central Library… anything can happen here. In fact, the possible can become actuality while you stay here. Things are always changing. Some for the better, some for the worst… it really all depends on one thing. You.
Take a look around, visit the worlds through the book portals, and slowly bring it back to life. The more you do, the better life will get. But be wary, not everything is a fun story and not everything is harmless. Sometimes you will have your life at stake and others you will simply have to enjoy your stay.
You can use RNG to pick a scenario below… or you can pick your own! Whatever delights your fancy and makes you feel at home within the walls of The Central Library.
1. Arrival – You wake up in the main hall. The reception desk is behind you and you know you heard someone whispering “Save us” in your ear… but where are you? The hall gleams and there are many doors amongst the shelves of books. It is rather huge and a walkway circles a second floor… where are you? Well… you might want to ask.
2. Market Place – The Central Library has turned the large conference room into an open gateway to a market place. It shifts and changes along with the Library, but food is always available to those living there as long as the portal is open. Step into a Parisian market of modern day, an open market of the Dark Ages, or even a trading post in the Old West. Go shopping, take a stroll… your imagination is your only limit.
3. Go Out to Dinner – There aren’t many places to go out to eat in The Central Library, in fact, it is best to keep food to the living quarters. But when you go through portals in events, you experience whole new worlds from every era and every place. Possibly you may sit in at the Mad Tea Party or even dine in the Great Hall at Hogwarts. You pick. You decide…
4. Non-Fiction Immersion – It’s raining. Inside. You’ll find that Non-fiction has a way of ruining your day to day life in the Library. Some book in the Non-fiction section has burst open letting out a monsoon of types that only gets worse as you get to that section. Find it, close it… or we all just might float away.
5. Fiction Invasion – Sometimes things slip through. Little things or big things. After all, monsters do hide in the dark corners and in some sections of the grand structure. But this time… the problem is small, small size that is. Pixies have invaded. They are troublesome things… they love to cause problems and make life a little miserable. You need to catch them before they steal you blind… and possibly cause you too much mischief. You may need a net… but please, try not to kill them.
6. Cleaning is Necessary – You are stuck here, you might want to make it home. Being in such disrepair, it needs a little love and care. I’m sure the janitor’s closets have some tools and no harm in trying to pick up books and shelve them. Just be careful… they are rather testy about where they go.
7. A posse ad esse – Anything is possible. This is your Wild Card. Have fun with it!

Bruce Banner l MCU l
In the midst of the rain and water a man appears passed out against one of the shelves. His graying hair is soaked and he is shirtless. The only clothing currently on his person is a pair of ragged pants that are just as soaked as he is. He might need a little help people please.
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
"Oh my!" She said, rushing to the man's side. She knew basic healing so she ran a quick diagnostic spell. "Please be okay."
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
The spell would show the young witch that the man has no major wounds he's just tired and dehydrated. He begins to stir slightly. "Natasha," he asks his voice carrying a slight slur to it.
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
"Are you hurt?"
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
"Don't get hurt," Bruce replies, "healing takes care of it. Where am I...and why I'm I wet?"
no subject
"Banner! Is that you? Great! Maybe you can help me convince Steve that he's not immune to lightning and drowning..."
no subject
Bruce groaned and opened his eyes at the familiar voice. "Tony," he said sounding like ten miles of bad road on a Sunday, "What the hell are you talking about? What happened with Ultron?"
no subject
Then the question about Ultron and he went still. Brow furrowing, he knew that Hulking out tended to mess with Banner's memory, but he wasn't ready to talk about Ultron. Hell, he didn't know when he'd be ready. "What's the last thing you remember, big guy?" So he chose a quieter approach... one that didn't involve talking about Pietro dying or the crushed look on Romanoff's face. Or other things that none of the other Avengers would ever care about because... well... his fault.
no subject
Bruce stands up and blinks in surprise in finding himself standing in water....in a library and not wet because the stealth plane had gone down in the ocean like he and the other guy had apparently planned out. "I remember Natasha pushing me into a hole and the other guy coming out. I remember vagely tossing Ultron off a plane and then.....things went pear shaped for a bit."
no subject
Brushing wet hair back, he shrugged his shoulders a bit. "Well... Romanoff may kill you later or hug you. I haven't decided, she's a little hard to read." Shaking his head, he's sure Bruce didn't mean that. "Anyway, you aren't in Kansas anymore, so things just found a new level of weird."
no subject
"You're welcome," Bruce replies with his own brand of dry sarcasm he knows Tony enjoys, "as for Nat...I was hoping I wouldn't have to have that conversation ever again. After South Africa he and I both knew we'd never be safe again."
Bruce sighs and looks around. "So I suppose winding up in a flooded library is the lesser of two evils at this point."
no subject
"Hate to tell ya, buddy... but it is definitely the lesser of two evils. All I know is it's like a pocket universe or something. Lot of people from different places. And I do mean different. You good?" No point in overloading the poor guy right away.

Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
She still didn't know how she got here, where here is, or why the floor was wet. So she kept her bow at the ready, though aimed down. She moved carefully, maintaining a twenty foot distance between them.
"Who are you?" she asked. She was not going to ask where she was. She wouldn't admit she needed that information for her.
Apparently an inability to speak for 20 some-odd strips didn't actually cure a base personality.
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
Bruce groans softly and shakes his head trying to clear it of the post Hulk out fuzz that always seemed to accumulate. "Bruce Banner," he says, "where am I and why am I sitting in a foot of water?"
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
She sighed, as if feeling put out, "But I suppose if you're willing to pay me, I'll help you explore and try to figure out how you got here."
Because it was safer to explore with someone at your back, and this way instead of having to trust him... he has to trust her. And pay her at the far side of the journey.
She no longer needed the money to free her father from Tyrannia, but they needed enough gp to get Durkon raised from the dead. Besides, old habits couldn't be easily sneak attacked.
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
"Sad to say all I have is my pants," Bruce says waving at the tattered piece of clothing he was wearing, "and I doubt you want to see me naked in exchange for them."
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
Having someone in debt to you was always a chancy game, but when it paid off, the rewards could often make up to cover the losses from other times when it didn't. Besides, the fact that he didn't promise her the moon meant there might be a chance that he was the goody goody lawful sort, and if he was, then it was all the more likely that the reward would come, and would be worth it.
So long as he never learned her alignment.
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
"Fine with me," Bruce says with a shrug. He doesn't really have much of anything anymore, but debts can always be paid in other ways once he manages to figure out where, when and how he got here. And find himself some decent clothes too. "I'm Bruce," he says.
Re: Bruce Banner l MCU l
"Shall we start exploring?" she moved her bow to a ready position, arrow knocked, aimed down. Which was not all that different than how she stood before.
"If we're attacked, whatever side of the attacker you see me heading for, you stand on the monster's other side. Got it?"

Batting lightly at Bruce's shoulder, the Cat made sure that his claws were retracted so that it was only the pads of his paw that touched skin. "Dr. Banner, you need to wake up." Titles were not things that the Cat offered lightly but he felt a certain kinship to this particular patron.
At times like this, his size was a hindrance but he would make do. "I do not want to claw you to make sure you get out of the storm but I will if it is necessary."
no subject
Bruce groaned softly and opened his eyes. He stared at the cat for a few seconds before speaking and the expression on his face is more one of puzzlement and curiosity then fear. "Where am I? I don't think there should be a ocean in the middle of a set of book shelves," he says as he he looks around.
no subject
"No other dangers escaped but it would be best if you either helped close the book or if you moved to a drier area of the Library so I can explain things to you." The wind picked up, forcing the Cat to crouch low, ears flattening against his skull. "This form does not like the weather as well as others might."
no subject
Bruce stands up carefully looks around and pulls a bit of ribbon carefully out of one of the books. He uses it as a belt to keep his ragged pants from falling down and then looks around again. "Okay.....we are in nonfiction looks like...weather is the 500's, 555 I think. The book that's causing this mess should be somewhere around there...I hope."
He looks at the cat. "Need a ride..my shoulder should be wide enough for you and that way you can tell me where to go. My brains are a bit too scrambled still for directions."
no subject
The Cat blinked slowly, then let out a pleased hum. Most beings saw a feline and assumed he should be carried in a person's arms like a house pet. "Thank you. That would speed things up for us both." Lightly hopping onto Bruce's shoulders, finding his balance easily. "Yes, this is a good spot. Forgive any use of claws. I am usually careful of that but the weather may make it difficult to hold on."
A flick of his tail offered the correct direction. "That way, Dr. Banner. And do not worry about your Other Half while you're inside these walls. Both of you are safe here."
no subject
"Pain has never been a problem for me," Bruce replied, "well physical pain at any rate." He starts walking in the correct direction. "I'm a bit more worried about my Other Half and other people. I wouldn't want to hurt any of the books or other documents if he decided it was time to appear."
