Event 2 - Celebrating the Holidays in the Library (Event and Test Drive)

Celebrating the Holidays

More of the holiday spirit has crept into the Library. Evergreens and fairy lights decorate the main rooms. The sound of carols can occasionally be heard if a patron is quiet and waits long enough. The atmosphere of the Library is filled with goodwill and hope but that doesn't mean that things will be quiet in the Library. Again, potential patrons will be allowed to visit the Library to see if they wish to stay and help the Librarians with their duties. Current patrons will be enjoying the holidays and the unique situations presented by a festive Library.

1. Mistletoe Mayhem. The holidays would be boring without a little mistletoe to make the holidays merry. This particular variety is more magical than most. When a patron is caught beneath the mistletoe, he or she cannot leave the spot until they have received a kiss. If two people are caught at the same time, then the solution seems simple but things in the Library are never easy. If the pair who are kissing do not love each other romantically, then a message will appear in festive red script that will tell them that they must say the name of the person they love. In this case, platonic love can be the solution.

2. Winter Wonderland. The atrium has become a winter paradise. Don't worry. Unlike the storms that escape from the books, this version of winter is purely decorative. Snow drifts lazily from the ceiling, creating drifts that are only deep enough to allow for snowball fights and building snowmen. An ice rink has appeared, complete with skates that will magically fit each patron. Warm beverages and snacks must be supplied by the patrons since anything left in the atrium will eventually become tepid.

3. Christmas Memories Revisited. The manifestation of this event depends on the player selecting this option. The can represent warm, loving holidays of the past Christmas or something dark and edgy. If this selection will include triggery topics, please post it in one of the Library comms or in private journal. A link can be included later to help with point totals.

4. The Market. The portal has shifted from one point in London's timeline to another. Now the gate has opened up to Victorian England reminiscent of A Christmas Carol. Patrons can shop for gifts and explore a time that might not be familiar to them. Please remember not to do anything to disrupt history or confuse the locals.

5. Presents for all the Good Children of the World. Everyone, even Library patrons, should complete a few good deeds to get on Santa's 'Good' list. Santa needs help getting ready for Christmas Eve. Patrons have been asked to help make toys and wrap presents so that everything will be ready for the important night.

6. The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. These spirits have decided that they need a few days rest before they fulfill their holiday duties. They will be found milling around the reception area, probably around the eggnog and other refreshments that have appeared on the main desk. If the ghosts are feeling generous, they may allow patrons to enjoy a holiday with someone from the past that they might never have a chance to see again.

7. Wild Card Option. This option should be festive and related to Winter or the Winter Holidays.

Mistletoe Mayhem

Casey had no clue HOW this had happened. One minute he was wandering the halls, the next he was stuck. He could. not. move. It was annoying, and he grumbled, and tried to think of what the heck was going on. Looking up, he noticed the sprig of mistletoe, but the idea that he'd be stuck under it until something happened, never occurred to him.

Winter Wonderland

For anyone with a bookmark, there would be an open video-feed sent. In it is a very excited teenager, with a gap in his teeth. Babbling about snow in the atrium! And an ice rink! And does anyone else play Hockey? COME ON YOU GUYS WE HAVE TO HAVE A SNOWBALL FIGHT!

Anyone wandering into the area will find a very hyperactive and happy teenage vigilante. Casey has already built part of a snow-fort, and has his hockey stick and some pucks, and is playing around on the ice. He has proper hockey-ice skates, and honestly looks at home gliding around the rink. Almost like he was born in a rink.

Making Christmas Toys

For all that Casey doesn't like sitting still, he actually is pretty dexterous and good at making things. Which means he's settled himself in one nook that resembles a study-area, and is working on assembling small trucks and cars for presents. The wrapping might be a bit clumsy, but the toys themselves are pretty well crafted.

Mistletoe Mayhem

Thea had been looking for a place to shoot a few practice arrows when it happened. She had hung a sharp left and found herself under what looked to be mistletoe, what made it worse was she was trapped. "Ok, if Roy was around this would be over with in a hurry." she realized quickly. But for now she was going to wait it out and see what happened.

Winter Wonderland

Thea had found a pair of skates in her size and was happily making laps around the rink. When there was room she would attempt a jump or fancy spin, all learned during her brief misadventures in figure skating as a kid. Turns out it was a good thing she moved onto archery (thanks to getting bored with figure skating, turns out she was more into the fancy costumes) as much of a disaster the landings were.

Wrapping Christmas Toys

Thea may be a lousy builder but there was one part of the holidays she rocked at and that was wrapping gifts. So she was busy taking the built toys and turning them into brightly and quite creatively wrapped packages. Plus it was keeping her brain from spinning out of control with memories of Ra's Al Ghul.

"On your left!" came the female voice in a red hoodie and black jeans as Thea attempted (and royally bombed) a double axel. Since she had been healed from her stab wounds when she arrived she was doing the mental recovery but decided a little fun was in order, especially seeing how excited this guy looked over the idea of a rink and a snowball fight.

Casey changed direction easily, a shift of his body and motion--gliding on the ice with ease. Laughing, but it wasn't mean--amused mostly. Then heading over and offering her a hand for balance. "Got some nice air there on the leap."

Casey wasn't alone in his helping build toys--and when he'd gone back for more to work on, he'd noticed Thea wrapping. Dropping some of his off, he approached the archer. "Any chance we can team up on this? Your wraps a lot better than mine, but I can build 'em with ease."

"Thanks! 6 months of figure skating as a kid. Turns out I'm more suited to archery." Thea confessed with a rare enough smile at the moment. "I saw your message and well anyone that can be happy about surprise snow has to know something I don't." she joked.

(A-ok!)

"Totally Casey." Thea cracked a smile when the skater spoke. "Turns out I can't build but I'm still good at creative gift wrap." she joked. But as she spoke her hands pulled off another creative wrapping of some dolls and matching clothes.

"Hey, as long as this doesn't come with an alien invasion that turns everyone into mutant monster-freaks, then I am more than happy Winter is here." Casey murmured, gliding back once she had her balance. "Besides, maybe I can get find some other players now." Bringing the hockey stick up to rest on his shoulder, honestly as at home on the ice as he would be on solid ground.

"Or just have some fun shooting some goals. Besides, after the last wiggy stuff going on here, we could all use some fun." A lazy circle skated backwards around her, before coming back to face her. "Name's Casey Jones. You?"

"I can...wrap. Basically." Casey returned, gesturing to his items. "But I tinker a lot, so put me on the building end. Had to make my own gear after all." Then there was the hot-rod, and the Turtle Racer. He may not be the genius with machines Donatello is, but Casey wasn't a slouch. "This makes a nice break from the snow-playground too."

Not that he wouldn't be going back to that; he wondered how long it'd be here?

"Thea Queen, just got dumped into all this not too long ago." Thea for now was not spilling the whole arriving after just being stabbed portion of her tale. "And well after the last few weeks anything is a picnic to borrow the expression." she joked.

"Makes sense, I mean someone has to make the toys and the gadgets." Thea observed as she snagged some ribbon to add a final touch to a package. "But then I'm also going to attempt a few double axels at some point too, that last attempt was a disaster but a fun one."

Under the Mistletoe

Barry was zipping around the Library making deliverers and doing general clean up when suddenly he comes to a complete stop almost falling over as he tried to get going again. When he looked up he got a "uh oh" look on his face. "Mistletoe...this can't be good."

Christmas Memories

Barry smiled as he watched his younger self diving into the present pile as his mom and dad looked on with love and pride. Part of him feels like he be worried he's seeing this. But his heart knows he's been given a gift and he just leans back and enjoys the moment.

[Making Toys]

Barry had never felt like he'd been good with his hands, but when Santa asked for help how could he say no. Currently he was bent over a robot carefully connecting wires as he hummed a Christmas carol.

Bob sat on a shelf watching everyone bustling around and getting the Library ready for the holidays. He softly hummed "The Boar's Head Carol" as he watched the patrons having fun. Oddly enough he finds himself missing Harry right now, maybe it was the time year or maybe Bob was just a little bit lonely.

[Winter Wonderland]

Bruce smiled as he watched ice skaters and shook the snow from his hair. There was enough snow on the ground that he was working on a snowman for the pure joy of it. He hasn't done anything like that since he was a kid and he was having more fun then he had in a long time.

[Christmas Memories]

Bruce sighed happily as he dreamed. Unlike the last time he dreamed this one was calmer and sweeter. His mother was decorating a Christmas tree as she hummed a carol. His younger self was nibbling cookies and asking her a million questions about Santa and how his magic worked. Grownup Bruce was chuckling as he watched.

[The Market]

Bruce moved among the stalls looking for presents. In particular, he was looking for a ring for Natasha, something both simple and yet able to remind her of home. He was also looking for other gifts for the Librarians and the friends he's made here. It was time to celebrate and Bruce was ready.

(Snagging 5)

Thea had become a one woman wrapping operation since she had found a niche in the madness of the toy making area. Sure she may be awful with a hammer but let her be creative with a pile of wrapping paper and ribbons and the boxes gained a creative look. Plus wrapping meant less time to think which at the moment meant less chance of reliving a certain pre library event.

Barry looked up as he finished the robot and spotted someone familiar over by the wrapping table, and by familiar he remembered speeding past her the last time he was in Starling City. Deciding he needed a break, Barry zipped to the winter wonderland, picked up two hot chocolates extra whipped cream and zipped back to the familiar faces table. "Hi there, want to share a hot chocolate with me?"

"Of course!" Thea had just finished up another box and was due for a breather. She was also trying to place the face and figured it was someone mentioned within Team Arrow, she simply had to place it. "And I'll take that robot to be wrapped too."

Casey has just come back from the atrium, snow dusting his hair and shoulders, as he spots the skull. "Hey Bone-man!" Sorry Bob, you've got a new nickname. "You wanna go check out the snow and ice?" Because Casey will be going out back into it, obviously, again. Try and keep him away--just TRY.

"I promise I won't even use you as a replacement-puck..." Attempting to tease, grinning at the skull.

"Ouch." Casey said, still at ease and balancing. "I'd ask if it was worse than murderous ghosts and our worst nightmares, including being beat up in your dreams and having it actually bruise you in real life, but I'm not sure I wanna know."

Nope, gonna focus on the good aspects. Like the ice rink. "I really hope we aren't gonna be the only ones out here though. This place needs a snowball fight like teenagers need pizza!"

"Oh just let 'em try and keep me from going back out on the ice." Came the reply, hint of challenge in his voice. "Seriously, Casey Jones was practically born in the rink." Gathering up more toys to be assembled. "When you're done spinning in circles, lemme know if you wanna hit the puck around with me. I'm still trying to get a game going."

[She was here before but this time I am not auing her, but taking her straight out of book 7, post battle. ]

When Hermione woke that morning, she was not expecting to wake up in a strange place yet again. She wasn't extraordinarily happy about it either. They had just won a war for goodness sake, didn't she deserve a break. She had to laugh because really only she would end up in a library. She assumed it was a library anyway. She didn't see anyone around, so she started out through one of the doors she found.

Hermione's waking dream as of late was of her parents.It shouldn't surprise her really, given that they didn't even remember her. she and her parents would decorate the tree, and she would bake cookies with her mother, and read Christmas fables with her father. Hermione knew she did the right thing most days, it was just on days like this that she would get sad.

Going into the market helped Hermione feel less homesick. A Christmas Carol was one of her favorite stories as a child. She smiled a lot, as she went from shop to shop. She must have visited them all as she shopped that day. It was good for her to be out in the fresh air.

"Even if you did I'm tougher then I look," Bob sasses back, "I'd take a few hits and win you the game without blinking. Which is a real thing since you know no eyelids." He winks an eyelight. "Still a better view might be nice."

Barry hands the robot over with a grin. "I hope I managed to fix the wiring problem this one had," he says, "or someone will have an explosive holiday." He holds his hand out. "I'm Barry Allen, by the way have we met before?" With his other hand he pushes one of the hot chocolates over. "I feel like we have."

Thea accepted the robot along with offering Barry her hand,"Thea Queen and just got dumped into all this not too long ago. And this little guy looks ship shape to me." for now leaving out the whole being stabbed aspect of things. "I also don't think we've met unless you're someone Oliver has mentioned?" she offered as she caught a hot chocolate.

"I can also tell you it won't be all bad attempts at jumps either. In other words I'm so in once we get enough people." Thea had to smile. Casey was making her laugh and see the bright side of things, something she needed more than she knew.
